A bad burger is way WORSE than no burger at all. Fact.
We're here to make sure your burger is worth all of the (very many) carbs it contains. 😘 So here it is - our revised burger guide!
"Die By The Sword"
@ Bosozoku HQ (South Yarra)
It's to die (by the sword) for. Figuratively, of course.
Boso has mastered all that's uniquely delicious. This burg has got a matcha green tea bun, crumbed swordfish steak and slaw.
Grab it in a burger bento and you'll also get edamame, fries and salad. Best served with one of their bubble cup cocktails. 😉
"Lower East Side"
@ Little Oscar (Brunswick East)
A wagyu beef burger with a spicy Mex twist. The "Lower East Side" is takin' us to higher places (a.k.a heaven) - with spicy chorizo, jalapenos, cheese, avocado smash, coriander, chipotle and sour cream.
Top Food Melbourne even titled Little Oscar as "up with the best" in Melbourne. We do not disagree. Get on it.
@ Gramercy Social (Prahran)
Buttermilk fried chicken, old bay spice, American cheese, slaw, pickles and chipotle mayo. It's The Bronx. In an edible, burger form.
The addition of Macancini popper (a fried ball of mac, cheese & jalapeños) is absolutely necassary. Go hard, or go get a salad. That's how it goes, yeah?
"Kick Ass Mac and Cheese"
@ Three One 2 One (Richmond)
The name covers most of what needs to be said. Beef, double cheese, mac and cheese sauce, jalapeños, bacon, lettuce and ketchup on a brioche bun.
Seriously, that's bread, pasta, beef AND cheese. All of our favourite things on one, kick-ass burger. Overwhelming excitement.
"We're Not In Kansas Anymore"
@ Bluetrain (Southbank)
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. 👠
Suppose you could say this is NACHO average burger.
Nacho crumbed chicken fillet, Californian cheddar, B.T signature slaw, pickles and Kansas style sweet & spicy BBQ sauce. We must be over the rainbow. 🌈
The Wolfpack Burger
@ Hobba (Prahran)
You're about to become the newest recruit to Hobba's wolfpack. This burger boasts a 160g Wagyu beef pattie, a brioche bun, lettuce, tomato, red onion, American cheese, pickles and Hobba boom sauce. You'll understand the boom once you've tried it.
Served with their famous beer battered fries. If you think you're up to it, add bacon and egg too. 😎 Boom, brilliance.
"Tempura Soft Shell Crab"
@ Tsuta Sushi (Lonsdale St)
Here's a wild card if you've ever seen one. Tsuta does "sushi burger."
We understand that this potentially violates the appropriate and accepted definition of a "burger" but we'll let them have this one.
This "burger" consists of an entire crispy soft shell crab, served with mayo and salad. And it's SO delicious that we don't even mind that it's actually just sushi presented differently... 😝
Minus the pickles, please.
