Trick or TrEAT? 👻 Sydney's Halloween Food Scene

Pull out that dusty witches' hat that lives in the garage except for a brief rendezvous once a year. It's Halloween, guys and ghouls.

No tricks here, only treats. Whether you celebrate the spooky season by dressing up (or dressing down...😉), contemplating if you're too old for trick or tricking, or binging horror movies, we bet you won't turn down a good feed.

For Spooktober, we've lined up restaurants for the festivities. There's everything from funky shakes to specialty burgers.

Two Sticks

Barangaroo | The Quay | Chinatown
Eat & Earn 15% LVN
Chinese • Yunnan • Noodles

Double, double, toil and trouble. Get your witch on with Two Stick's signature 'crossing-the-bridge' noodles. Their Yunnan rice noodle soup is provided in a earthenware pot – yep, basically your very own mini cauldron. Staff will pop a raw quail egg in, along with sliced pieces of chicken and beef.

Here's where your witchy powers come in. After your meat cooks, it's up to you to add the noodles, bean curd strips and bean sprouts. And abracadabra, there you have it – your own (very edible and very yummy) potion.

Not scary enough for you? Try out some of their diverse and experimental dishes: pork blood jelly, deep fried pork intenstine, ox tongue and chicken hearts are not for the faint hearted.

8bit

Haymarket
Eat & Earn 20% LVN
Burgers • Hotdogs • Shakes

Ghouls n Ghosts assemble. Prepare to meet (and eat) your match: 8bit's limited edition Halloween special. Double beef, double American cheese, maple glazed bacon, spiced ketchup, onion, lettuce and pumpkin hummus on a black bun. Did you get all that? We're gobsmacked too.

It's only here 'til Halloween AND they're serving up some of their sweet potato fries. We think that this one's definitely a treat.

And for those unlucky few visiting this post-Halloween, this burger has already flown out the door. Butttt, we have another secret burger for you to try. Meet the "Insert Coin" burger, part of our Secret Snacks range. Hint: brunch enthusiasts will love it. 😉

Harbour Bar & Kitchen

Darling Harbour
Eat & Earn 25% LVN
Modern Australian • Drinks • Barbeque

Holy smokes... that's what we said when we saw these Smoking Skull Cocktails. The name says it all. There are three to choose from: calavera, black magic and tropical cyclone. We hear that one of them even has edible glitter. 😱

Add in a block of dry ice and watch the magic unfold. Even the skulls will have their minds blown – literally.

LL Wine and Dine

Potts Point
Eat & Earn 25-30% LVN
Pan-Asian • Cocktails • Yum Cha

We bet that your local yum cha joint isn't as saucy as LL Wine and Dine. In the 1960s, this bad boy was an adult bookshop. It doesn't stop there – that was a front for an illegal casino and swingers club. Wild, right?

They've kept a hold of the edgy underground feel – now styling the venue in image of a Hong Kong bar. Caged booth seating, deep red walls and lighting. There's even a wall decorated with pages of some leftover old-school porn magazines.

They're serving pan-Asian food and amazing cocktails. This is fusion done really well. Expect some traditional Chinese fare with Thai and Japanese twists.

Messina

Bondi | Circular Quay | The Star | Tramsheds | Darlinghurst | Surry Hills | Newtown | Parramatta | Rosebery
Eat & Earn 15% LVN
Gelato • Cakes • Shakes

You know 'em for their glorious, glorious gelato. But have you tried their shakes? For this month of October, they've released two limited edition milkshakes: the strawberry cheesecake and tres leches. Tres delicious, we think.

Dressing up like a nostagic, childhood cartoon character won't be complete without a sugary hit to match. You'll be bouncing off the walls from these drinkable desserts.
